Here we have a Genuine STIHL MS500i Muffler Heat Shield.
This is an essential part which sits up against the cylinder and draws the heat off the cylinder.
It's made out of Aluminium which is a great conductor of heat.
The only thing is if your muffler becomes loose then this essential part will chop out requiring replacment. You do not want your 500i to overheat, I have seen this many a time.
They are not fun to work on either!
